Choosing how we say goodbye to our loved ones is among the most personal and heartfelt decisions that any family can make. In making this choice, families must consider tradition, religious convictions, family members' wishes, and of course, cost.

There are at least four solutions from which most families may choose:

Losing a loved one is difficult enough; honoring their choices shouldn't have to be.

Samaritan Funeral Home, 1505 E McDowell, Phoenix, AZ
Traditional Funeral
As you know, a traditional funeral provides that your loved one be laid to rest in a beautiful casket, with friends and family there to say goodbye in a formal and reverent setting. He or she is then transported in a procession to a nearby cemetery and interred in a graveside ceremony.

While this traditional solution is respectful and dignified, it can also be expensive. There are many additional services that need to be considered, from upgraded caskets to flowers to transportation to programs and obituaries.

At Samaritan Funeral Home, you may be assured that we are fully committed to providing the highest quality funeral service at the lowest possible cost...and we don't scrimp on amenities.

As an example of our pricing commitment, please review our "Compassionate Value" funeral package, and if a traditional funeral is right for you, Samaritan Funeral Home can make it beautiful and affordable.
Cremation Service
These days, more and more families are choosing cremation, and  there are many reasons.

While the funeral has long been a tradition of reverence in many cultures, cremation is often considered honoring a tradition of returning "ashes to ashes", so is equally reverent.

Cost is another factor. A casket and cemetery plot often cost far more than an urn and mausoleum chamber. You will be very pleased at Samaritan Funeral Home's pricing.

Even with cremation, you are still able to have a memorial service, and sometimes even a viewing, so ask your funeral director when you speak to him or her about your arrangements.
Veteran Services
Samaritan Funeral Home is able to make all the contacts and arrangements for veterans through the National Cemetery System. If possible, the following information concerning the deceased should be provided at the time we contact the cemetery on your behalf:

  • Full name, military rank and branch of service
  • Social Security Number
  • Service Number
  • VA Claim Number, if applicable
  • Date and Place of Birth
  • Date and Place of Death
  • Date of retirement or last separation from active duty
  • Military separation document, such as your DD-214

Samaritan Funeral Home will request military funeral honors on behalf of eligible venterans' families, since the Department of Defense is responsible for providing these honors through a program entitled "Honoring Those Who Served."  If your loved one is a veteran, you can trust Samaritan Funeral Home to handle your service.
Donation
Many families are discovering the value and benefit of whole body donation.

It eliminates traditional funeral expenses by covering all costs associated with donation, including cremation. There is never a charge to the donor or survivors.

Donation adds greater meaning to the life that was lived by giving one last time to humanity. In research, donors are responsible for the advancements in medicine that many of us take for granted.

In education, donors allow medical students to get the training they need to become doctors. They also allow those who already are doctors to maintain their surgical and medical skills, and to develop new ones.

If you are intersted in becoming a donor, or would like more information, please contact our partner, RESEARCH FOR LIFE, LLC at 480.940.1310 or visit their website: www.rflaz.org.
Each of the solutions above and described below has benefits that meet the needs of many families. You need to decide which is best for you and/or your loved one. Here are some of the features of each that you may wish to consider:
